Well, you'll probably never be friends but you should be "friendly" in front of and around the children. Its in their best interest. What would Dr. Phil say?

Well, friends, maybe. You and your ex should definitely find a way to make an amicable relationship for the sake of the children. Neither parent should villify the other to them. Don't make them pay for the breakup. It was/is not their responsibility. Both parents should learn how to become co-parents. They shoudl forgive each other for their part in the breakup, and drop off the baggage at the door. It will be the children that end up carrying it if they don't.

Its very difficult to be "friends" with ur x, u should always put your children as top priority and u should always try your hardest to be civil with ur x's but "friends" is pushing it.. friends, tell each other almost everything, personal , and sometime intimate details about their lives, friends hang out or call each other on the phone,, and are the shoulder to cry on when u need it.. and unfortunately that usually doesnt work with x's.. and half of the time u'll find most x's dont mind till u butt heads on something then they will use the info from when u were "Friends" against u .. I have an x husband, we are very civil with each other, as i am with his new wife as well, but i dont talk to him about anything that doesnt concern our kids.. my personal life, is none of his business.. my financial life is none of his business, ect.. so we are "friendly" towards each other for the sake of our kids, but we arent Friends.. and even those that try the friendship route, usually end up as civil with each other because eventually u'll end up with other people and most others dont want to have to share their partners / spouses/ bf/ gf ect.. with the x atleast not on that type of level, they want the bond/ friendship ect for themselves.. and not for your x to be the person u run to when u need someone.. just something to think about..

Does this scorpion deserve your friendship?

A turtle was swimming downstream in the middle of the river.
A scorpion was on one side and called the turtle to that side.
"Turtle" Scorpion pleaded, "I cannot swim, will you let me ride on your back to the other side of the river."
"Scorpion," Turtle exclaimed, "you are a scorpion, you will sting me, and then I'll die! No!"
"Turtle, if I do that then we'd both die, do you think I am that stupid?" ask Scorpion.
Turtle thought about it and decided that that made sense and told Scorpion to get on his back.
As Turtle was swimming across the river, half way across Scorpion stung Turtle on the neck.
"Scorpion, what did you do that for," ask Turtle? "Now you'll die, too" Turtle said, nearing its last breath.
Scorpion replied, "I know I'll die, Turtle. You knew it, too, in your 1st comment, I can't stop myself, it's in my nature."

not when my ex is like this scorpion!

I respect my right to live and to not speak to her or let her know any thing about me and I give her personal space!

yes, I attempted to be friends until I was taught to not!

When it comes to your children, it doesn't matter what drama is between you and your ex. It's not about you and your ex at that point; when your together with your kids, they deserve not to see the nonsense.

i am. you have to. not always easy - especially since i am in a relationship,, and he is the one not in one. he likes to brag to the kids about this that and the other one, so they will tell me - mostly what they say is that daddy misses me. i stay away from those private conversations about our personal lives and concentrate on what needs to be said about the kids.

holding onto a grudge for whatever reason...whoever hurt the other person or whatever...is completely childish. move on. why live in the past. you two aren't together. get over it.
