Get hold of a book called "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" by Toni Wechsler. Order it from Amazon.
That and a digital Basal Body Temperature Thermometer is all you need.
The book explains how you can determine when you ovulate by checking your body signs and charting your BBT every day. There is no need to waste money on ovulation predictor kits. They are useless if you have an irregular cycle anyway.
Not only will you be able to see when you are ovulating but you can also work out if there are any other problems which might stop you conceiving, such as a short luteal phase or poor cervical fluids.
There are also several websites on which you can chart your temps and chat to others who are TTC.

To get pregnant you must have sex on a day that your eggs are being released. That is the best time to have sex.
After the 3rd day from the day that menses started put a thermometer into your mouth and check your body temperature every morning before you start turning in bed. The best time is at about 4 a.m. Maintain a chart. You will find that on one day the body temperature drops from 1/2 degree to one degree. This is the day that your eggs are being released. If you want to get pregnant this is the day that you must have sex. Tell your husband to ejaculate on his inward thrust so that the sperms will shoot deep inside.
After having sex you must stay in bed for about 30 mins with your knees bent up with a pillow under your buttocks so that the sperms will not pour out - to enable them to travel up.
Get your husband to save his sperms in the testacles for at least 3 days before sex to enable them to mature well to do their job.

Well, it would be best to try when you are ovulating. I think they recomend 4 days before you are due to ovulate to start then as the sperm can live inside you for a certain amount of days. You can also buy ovulation sticks (they look like pregnancy tests) from the chemist. Or you could try and see your doctor because he will aso advise what you should be doing before you conceive, for example taking folic acid. Good luck!

hi
i got pregnant 10days after period, but everyone is different!
best advice is have sex every 2-3 days cos if you have sex everyday then the mans sperm is not as good(apperntly) and dont stress about it, but if your trying dont let your head take over your body (am i pregnant am i pregnant) because you will start to notice signs when you do concieve. just start taking the folic, vitamins etc and make sure your in good health any issues best to see doctor first oh and if you smoke or drink try and scrap it to give your baby the best start. good hunxxx

you can buy a home ovulation test kit. it's like a pregnacy test - you pee on the stick and it tells you whether it's the right time of the month to conceive. it also tells you how many days after your period starts you should begin trying to get pregnant. costs less than £10. good luck trying!

If you're trying to conceive, you should do it 100 times a day 10-14 days after the first day of your period. That's when you will be likely ovulating.

my advice is ditch the birth control, be spontaneous, and let nature take its course. I learned from personal experience that it seems to take forever if you are stressing over charts and graphs and taking temps. Once we quit obsessing and relaxed, we got pregnant. Good Luck!!!

there will come a time about halfway between your periods that you will feel like nothing else but a good romp, dont let the stress of everyday life let you miss this.
