Is there a way to check a free AIM mail account using Microsoft Outlook?

I haven't heard of one but you can just check it online, right?

Try the program that I have found very well for the past year. It sits on your task bar and lets you know when there is mail. After you set it up. You can change the audio to what ever you want, even your own voice. Or you can go to 'Daily.wav and have something else tell you that there is email.
the name of the program is 'Check(POP)Mail by Paul Barlow.
I am putting a site at the bottom, and you will be able to find it there.

I don't think so, but you CAN try AIM Express.
