Yes, I realize this question is purely based on superficial appearances, but most of do really care somewhat about our phyisical appearance. I recently did have a friend that ask me this question. I love them dearly and would never want to hurt their feelings because I could care less about how they look. But they themselves were asking me to be truthful about their physical appearance. What do you think I should have said?

You could say "you have beautiful eyes" or "you have a beautiful smile" or, no matter how unattractive your friend is, if you can honestly say "you have bigger boobs that me" it never fails to make them happy.

I think you should have said something like this: I value our friendship so much! Your physical appearance is not important. No matter what you look like, I still love you as my dearest friend. For me, you have a great personality that brings out the best of you. But if you want to be pretty like the others, be like them. But for me, as your best friend, I am contented of who you are.

Good luck!

tell her the straight truth, friendship is about trust, and being honest to eachother and being there for that person whenever they need you. now would you want someone to lie to your face when you asked how you looked? wouldn't you like to know the truth rather than being lied to about it?!

I would tell them you don't know because you don't see them as anything more than a friend.
