Just go to freecycle.org . Find the one for your area. Everything has to be free or it can't be posted on the freecycle groups. Not only can you get free stuff , but you can also post stuff you want to get rid of yourself. I have given tons of stuff away from clothing to furniture. Plus, I got two matching desks from a lady just yesterday. You never know what people will post. It is free, legal, no spam, no s/h, no hidden bs and you can help the landfills at the same time.

No, you usually have to give them a credit card number before you get anything, then you found out you have paid for the 'free' product with your cc. Or they tell you that you do not qualify because your area is out of the zone.

Oh, of course, http://www.craigslist.org is another place for faster legit free stuff locally.

You may get something but they'll sell your email address to every spammer available. After a week or two you'll be so sick of all the garbage arriving (my wife gets 50+ a day) you'll change your email address.

Rarely.....
You pay more in shipping than you would if you actually "bought" the item.
