leave his cage with the door open, the last place you saw him.Usually when they get sleepy, they look for home. You can also try a tiny live trap along the baseboards of the room you know hes in.Tiny rodents stay along the base boards.Bait it with his fave food and you may find him in the morning.Good Luck!

Two years ago the librarian at the school I taught at lost a hamster in the library. We put a roll of toilet paper out and some food, hoping he'd use the TP to make a nest close so he wouldn't have to take it too far. Then a couple of days later we upended the bookcase close to our TP and food assortment we'd let him and sure enough--he was right there. He'd made his happy little home under the nearest bookcase.

Set up a trap with bait in the middle of a room somewhere and wait for the little critter to go for it. I would suggest a box propped up by a stick with a string attached that you can yank after your hampster has entered the trap. This will capture your pet with out hurting it. It does work. We use to catch small animals all the time this way as kids.

Try leaving the door to his cage open - he may eventually return to the cage. Or you can try putting some food in his food bowl and leave the bowl out somewhere (like on the floor of a room) and see if he comes to the bowl looking for food. This happened to me one time with my son's hamster - we took the hamster's food dish, put some food in it and shook the bowl. The hamster heard the food rattling in the dish and came looking for the dish - it worked for us. Good luck to you.

don't worry, he is STILL in the house. he is just hiding VERY well. when my hamster escaped, he was very smart. he had stuffed his cheeks with food and he was hiding under the huge china cabinet. and when every thing was quiet, we heard scratching noises. so we knew where he was. and we had to move that big thing and catch him. we found out that he was trying to rip up the carpet to make a nest. we thought that was smart.
anyways, at night when everything is silent. walk quietly through the house very slowly. and listen. you might hear him scratching around. this always works. also check in the laundry room behind the washer and dryer.

It always worked for me to put a lovely fat piece of nice cheese in the middle of the floor and just wait. Hamster will show up because he/she is hungry.

hamsters are nocturnal, so if you're looking for it during the day, it's probably sleeping in a hidey spot......
put out some sunflower seeds in the middle of the room where you think it might be......turn out all the lights.....get a flashlight and a big Tupperware bowl or other plastic container....., and lay on the couch...very quite....
when you hear the seeds being disturbed....shine the light....and pounce with the bowl.....
