yes, I believe this saying but I think it mostly applies to emotional stuff, medical/physical stuff might change you forever.

Yes, I strongly believe that situations in life that did not kill us or die from it make you very strong.
This negative situations make you very strong, because we gain experiences for the future, so we do not make the same mistake twice.
Is very positive to make a negative experience work for your own advantage in life. Make you feel good in the future even-thou that at the moment you feel like the world is ending right there.

Absoloutely. Every obstacle overcome adds to your wisdom... and wisdom is a form of strength.
People are commenting that some events people never recover from (PTS events for example)... .. you don't have to be in a grave to have not "overcome"... sometimes things can 'kill' you in other ways and the grave is a bit longer getting to.

It's an encouraging thought, but as with most other generalizations, it's not always true.
Some things that don't kill you make you weaker, especially psychologically weaker.
It's usually attributed to Nietzsche, but some say it comes from Goethe

ABSOLUTELY!!!! Maybe you are young and have yet to reap the full wrath of life. But the longer you live and the more bullets and boulders you successfully dodge as you make your way down your path in life........the more you will believe the truth of that simple statement. " What ever doesn't kill you, will make you stronger."

Whatever happened to the phrase "Whatever hurts you makes you an amusing emotional mess later"?
Seriously.
Not all things will make you some sort of revenge seeking warrior of life.

I'd like to believe in that old saying but it is too black and white. People can experience something and be bothered by it a long time, maybe the rest of their lives. Post-traumatic stress, for example.

Yeah, what doesn't kill me makes ME stronger. Truth is when faced with hardship, weaks become weaker and strongs become stronger.

AIDS doesn't make me stronger. And it doesn't kill me. AIDS just weakens my body to the point where I have no immune system whatsoever and then the next virus I get, kills me! So no, I don't believe that whatever doesn't kill me makes me stronger.

its not true, strength comes from gain not loss.if you think this is true and thats the way you want to live then be careful for what you wish for because you might just get it and if you do then you may spend the rest of your life regreting it.
