If you rate a best answer you get no points, if you are just rating an answer you do not get any points. They changed the rules a couple of weeks ago and you used to get a point for voting on a best answer, now you don't, when they put in the new software you can also rate an answer, but you won't get any points. You can only get a points for answering a question, voting for best answer or being chosen for best answer. As far as what is the point of rating answers, there is no point value. I guess you have to ask yourself, what are these points for anyway?

I don't think you get points. It's just another way for people with inflated egos (like mine) to subject the world to yet another piece of their mind. -yk
