I mean I can understand if you don't like homosexuals but it's like damn, they REALLY hate gays.

Lol some of my male friends who don't know the side of me that the girls do often talk about how they hate gay kids. One friend is very homophobic, he says things like "omg i hate f*gs so much! Why can't they just die?" lol I just laugh because it's so retarded.

But anyways what I'm wondering is why kids, especially guys, hate gays so much. None of my friends have homophobic parents and I don't think there are that that many homophobic families out there anyways. The media can also be a problem too but it's doesn't say anything anywhere near as hateful as what they say. Then there's religion. Catholics and all them believe that homosexuality is a sin, but they don't say that homosexuals are evil or that they should die or call them fags (except for the extremely religious people lol).

So yeah, where is all the hate coming from? Most younger girls are fine with them.

They're of the REAGAN generation! The actor-turned-Prez who essentially turned his back on those afflicted with AIDS.

I was thinking about the same thing a little while ago... I'm wondering whether it's just because there's more of a gay presence in mainstream culture and the media today, so the people who before would have been quietly anti-gay have instead become very vocal. I guess because homosexuality is a more frequent discussion topic nowadays.

It also doesn't help at all that "gay" is a word that alot of kids use to describe something that they just don't like-- you've heard people say, "That is so gay!" before when it wasn't about sexual orientation, right? It's just like how some people will describe something as "gangter" when they mean they like it.

But about what you said about Catholics: I went to Catholic school, and they taught us there that the Church doesn't regard homosexuality as a sin. The Church's official position is that homosexual acts are a sin, but homosexual orientation is not. Unfortunately, alot of people won't listed too closely to that and they'll decide that homosexuality is against their religion.

The hate has stemmed from necessity (don't get me wrong)/ many parents are probably not homophobic because they did not need to be, people were infact more homophobic back then in their time but had hardly any opportunity to show it because Gays and Lesbians were Taboo and so did not have equal rights and privillages and didn't openly admit their orientation. Now its like they're taking over the God Damn World.

Its also the idea of Homosexuals getting married and adopting children...The latter being the real issue/ sure they can argue that two same sex parents can create a loving home...but why the hell wouldn't they say that? They're not thinking about the kids...people won't stand for it...but yet homosexuals are winning the war and that incites some serious homophobic tendencies.

the irrational fear and hatred of homosexuals is the common definition of homophobic. i'd hazard to say that thinking it is wrong doesn't make one homophobic.

to answer your question, guys get really uncomfortable when thinking that someone could possibly think they are personally gay or whatever. this leads to them saying they hate gays. it's a fear of being falsely labelled.

there are laws way back through history called Buggery Laws.
Homosexuality was outlawed even by Zoroastrianism.
If memory serves me, the Code of Hammurabi even condemns certain acts like this.

so, the distaste isn't a recent thing. Now of course there are several other ancient cultures and faiths who allow(ed) "buggery."

it comes down to a guy not wanting to be called gay. at least usually.

Most of it comes from ignorance and hearing Others say it.

And BTW Homophobia is not a "canard" nor is it an "irrational fear of Gays" but that is a very standard right winger spin(spin means words twisted to the point of being lies).

ho·mo·pho·bi·a

1. Fear of or contempt for lesbians and gay men.
2. Behavior based on such a feeling.

Well... some agree for the sake of being "cool".Others feel threatened...they;re very sensitive about their sexuality and somehow the thought scares them. They think that somehow if they agree with homosexuality someone will hit on them and they'll stop being popular....ugh...their brain is too complex. But trust me, they may talk s***, but once their dear friend "gets out of the closet", they will still like him as a good buddy.

I acted that way when I was in my 20s.....I bashed gay guys in front of my friends, but I knew I was just like them deep down inside.

I was pissed off at being 'different' inside, and it was going to ruin my reputation if anyone found out.....so I just went to an extreme and showed anger toward gays...sometimes physically.

My ears always perk up when I see a straight guy bullying a gay guy.

Our American society is to blame. Homophobia is now an accepted form of discrimination. Homosexuality used to be an arrestable criminal offense within the last century.

They learn from their parents... people who show negative feelings toward other people around their children are setting them up to think like them...

If parents would let their children learn on thier own that there is nothing wrong with being homosexual maybe they wouldn't be
