I am an ex high school wrestler and now im a highschool coach. its not like that wwe crap. its really fun. you learn a lot of moves, you become stronger and what other sport do you get praise for beating the heck out of someone you know? goto a few preseason work outs and you will see what wrestling is all about.

Most elite high school teams and their coaches will expect kids to drop weight. If a kid is already in pretty good shape, dropping weight - as much as 15% - can stunt their growth and possibly harm their hearts. Their are tests for hydration, body fat, etc... that limit how much a youth can drop. But one of the things to remember is that a youth's body wants to grow - cutting weight might not be a good idea. And very few pediatricians would recommend this practice. On the plus side, wrestling builds self-confidence, resilience, and a hard work ethic. Wrestling has become a popular sport for high school and college females as well.

I did it my freshman year in high school and it is wicked intesne, at least in my area (Boston MA). Here, you have to be seriously devoted to complete an entire season of this sport.
Good luck
