Three rules you need:

ln (e^a) = a * ln (e)
ln (e) = 1
[ln (a)] / b = ln (a^(1/b))

e^6x = 8
ln (e^6x) = ln (8)
6x * ln (e) = ln (8)
6x = ln (8)
x = ln (8) / 6
x = ln (8^(1/6))

x=0.34657359

Take the natural log of both sides.

Then 6x = ln(8) = 2.07944
x = 2.07944 / 6 = 0.34657359

you want to get x by itself, so to get rid of e, you take the natural log (ln) of both sides, and using the principles of logs you can move the exponent in front of the natural log giving you 6x = ln8. then you divide by 6 on both sides and you'll get x = (ln 8)/6

Well, 6x=ln8=2.07944. Divide this by 6 and you get x= 0.34657359.

Take log to the base e of each side.......

6x = ln8
so x = (ln8)/6
or x = ln8^(-6)
