Go the the library and look up the play and who starred in the play. Get an idea of what is expected of you by the type of actor that played the role your are auditioning for.
Without trying to imitate or duplicate anyone else's style, bring something new to the role. Create a new sense of timing, body language, accent, etc. When you audition, try dressing like the role you are seeking for the audition. And, above all, don't just go through the motions of wanting to be in a play, show enthusiasm and understanding of the character.
Also, it doesn't hurt to know the whole play including the other persons lines and listen. There are no short-cuts to getting a role, but for some strong advise, try sticking with original productions/original plays.
And, for future references, take a course is acting. The shortest distance between two points, from starting out to success, is education.
Good luck.

I would suggest getting a monolouge ready, and a song, if it's a musical. If you're still unsure, try calling the casting director or agency.

Relax... be yourself... read what they give you to read, and don't be upset if you don't get the part.
Auditioning can be fun once you get the hang of it, and you learn to audition, by doing it... over and over again.
