Spell writing?

How does one actually 'write' a spell?

It's pretty complicated if you don't have any background knowledge. You have to have some knowledge about different kinds of magick (i.e. gemstone magick, herbal magick, candle magick, poppet magick, etc.). You choose one that you feel drawn to and choose a sympathetic action to use to symbolize and represent what it is that you want done.

The typical spell structure goes as follows:

1.) Cleanse the ritual space with the elements
~ Smudge with incense (fire and air)
~ Asperge with holy water (water and earth)
2.) Cast the circle
3.) Invite the Quarters
4.) Invite Deities
5.) Statement of Intent
6.) Spell (the part you chose that I mentioned above)
7.) Cakes and Ale (opt. for spellwork)
8.) Farewell Deities
9.) Farewell the Quarters
10.) Open the Circle

I have done some reading on the subject, but am not an expert or a practitioner of Magic, but from what I have absorbed, what you write is not as important as what you visualize. The words of a spell are just a guide to focus your concentration and channel energy to the desired accomplishment of your need, be it a healing, cleansing, banishing, etc. The written spell should be done in a manner that makes your spells purpose and end result clear in your mind. By writing a formula that repeats(rote) you can intensify the focus of energy.

Just please realize (mainly talking to the poster that thought this was 'SO COOOOL')..this is not The Craft, Charmed, or any other idiotic interpretation that Hollywood has came up with. Ok, back to your question...INTENT is the most important thing, it's the "key" that will make your spell work. Just follow the laws, don't screw with someone's free will (NO LOVE SPELLS), and write down what it is you want. It would help if you researched the herbs, moon phases, etc to corrospond with your intent.

write down what you think is right for you. how you feel about things some spell can be very simple yourself and nature,or can be very involed, with many tools, props and movements. (some may diagree with me here) take what parts you like from other spells and talior them to your own needs, if you have trouble starting from scratch. the best written spell is one that you are comfortable with, otherwise it may not work the way you want it to.

There's no such thing as magic. If there was everyone would know about it. Scientists would've proved it and people would be using it every day. If there are web pages about casting spells and anyone can do it, then why aren't all sorts of magical things happening all over? Yeah, because it's a scam, a fraud, a joke, or your imagination. Wake up and read a science book.
