My friend's sister thinks she's in labor. She says she keeps having labor symptoms. She's 16 by the way. What should she do? She said she feels the baby pushing out. Could the Dr. have misdiagnosed her due date? Or could she have lied about her due date? She says she's 6 mos. but she looks like she's due.

Since she is so young, she probably should have the doctor take a look at her. Sometimes there are complications because of age. Women do have contractions that go away, during the last trimester... and that may be all it is. But still it would be best to stop by an urgent care center and have a doctor check her over.

Technically a baby can be delivered at any stage in the pregnancy. If it's born too early it would be still born. If it's born after six months gestation, it has a slim chance of survival, but most likely with some degree of hardships like physical and developmental delays, if not worse. If your friend thinks she's in labor she needs to go to the hospital, especially if she's not due yet. If she delivers early, and has the baby at home, the baby could die without having medical assistance. Not trying to scare you but it's a fact.

It is probably false labor which is very common during your first pregnancy.
Braxton-Hicks Contractions

The best way to determine if the contractions are real or false is by:
false labor the pain is usually felt in the front only
real labor is usually felt in the back and moves around to the front

false labor usually stops when you get up and start walking, lay down, or change your position in any way, or increase your fluid intake.
real labor will continue no matter what you do to try and relieve it.

She needs to get to the doctor immediately if not the ER. It is very possible to have a baby at 6 months and it's also very risky for the baby. If she really is in labor the baby could be in trouble.

She could have lied of course, maybe because of her age. Never say never, but it seems very unlikely that the docter makes a mistake in the diagnoses because this diagnosis is particularly easy.

6 months is like 25 / 26 weeks that would be close to the limit of survival. The baby would certainly be very tiny and need a lot of support to keep his lung function.

It's possible but not very healthy for the baby. Maybe she looks large because she's young? Or maybe she did lie about her due date - either way get her to a doctor NOW!

It is possible to have a baby at 6 months, she should go to the Dr. A.S.A.P to get checked and make sure everythin is all right. It is not normal to have a baby at 6 months.

Phone maternity ward and ask them because they would be better able to help you all. Honestly, get off the computer, and phone up, and go. I don't think that if someone is going into suspected labour at 6 months pregnant, people should be sitting infront of a computer waiting for answers.
GET HER TO HOSPITAL!

It is possible for her to go into labor that early. She needs to go to the doctor immediately, if she is in labor they can give her some medication to stop her labor if that is what it is.
