I actually believe you can learn from your past experiences or mistakes, but I don't think you should always stop trying to do something that didn't work before.
The secret is to acquire the judgment necessary to know what might have gone wrong and find a new way. That same judgment should also help you decide trying something again that would be a waste of time. Many people seem not to be able to learn from their past mistakes and are condemned to repeat them.
The lessons from failure are much more useful than the experiences of success.

Not in the way you think, but yes. The way I learn is from experience, yes, but what comes along with experience is wisdom. Wisdom is exciting because it's more freeing for you and the people you know. Wisdom makes you understand others and care more for you.
btw - I still make the same mistakes sometimes.

society as a whole, never learns. humanity as a whole never learns. take a look around. its the same as it ever was and allways will be. a lot of mistakes are made by people who refuse to give up on others. if i am doomed then so be it. ill have no regrets.

I always do, but most people don't.
I pride myself on making any mistake only once, and to always try new things, which sometimes have me make mistakes. ;-)
