All it is, is respect for others. I don't understand why people would actually want to offend someone.

Political correctness is so upside down, while trying not to offend someone you just end up offending someone else. I don't think the government should have the right to tell us what respect is, people should be responsible for themselves. Most forms of respect are common sense and if the person doesn't know that then their an idiot.

Political Correctness has done the opposite of what it has set out to do. Consider the case of Christmas; It used to be that you could say Merry Christmas...now it's frowned upon lest you offend someone who is not christian. The problem is now you have offended the Christians or people who don't mind hearing the word Christmas.

In the end more people wound up offended, than if everyone would just say Merry ******* Christmas!!

There are cases when political correctness has gone too far. For example if a person is from Mexico and is called a Mexican, many consider that offensive. Over time the political correct concept has made a lot of terms offensive that basically are not intended to be. I remember when a Mexican was known as a Chicano, then it was Latino, then Mexican American, and now I believe the term is Hispanic. I believe most people know when they have been disrespected and these politically correct terms are just a bunch of in vogue terms. Intent is more important than a label. Thank you for posting your view. Have a wonderful day.

Sometimes political correctness protects the minority at the expense of the majority. To have true respect for others you need a system that protects everyone, equally.Political correctness itself is a good idea but unfortunately it gets carried too far by people with ulterior motives.
Case in point, the Christmas Tree changing to the Holiday Tree. What about the respect for Christians?

Political Correctness implies a violation of the First Amendment and Free Speech.

Within reason, a person should say what they feel. It should be up to the individual to refrain from hurting the feelings of others. It simply reflects poorly on a person that deliberately treads on another person's feelings. A person builds their own reputation by what they say and do. The "Trash Mouth" is simply put in a category of Ignorance. The "unPolitically Correct" person is put in a category of brash and careless.

The well thought individual earns and maintains a place among the intelligent, thoughtful and trustworthy. But this often means that a person simply keeps their mouth closed. Silence is often the best reputation builder.

Sometimes 'offending' someone is a good way to wake them up. Who decides what's offensive and what isn't. Sometimes ideas such as racial profiling aren't politically correct but make good logical sense. This constant catering to minorities is not healthy, rest assured no matter what you say someone will be offended. Sometimes it's good to question the status quo.

It's all fun and games until someone gets their feelings hurt and then it's #*$%@~ hilarious!!! C'mon making fun of others is THE most fun that can be had by people without getting physical!!! Don't get me wrong- I have respect for everyone- we are all the same inside- but some people take "PC" too far....I am only against taking away the comedy of it all- have you seen what it has done to bugs bunny and daffy duck???

It's not because anyone WANTS to offend someone. "Political correctness" can become limiting to the point where it's annoying, that someone is offended over the littlest thing. More or less, people need to lighten up, chill out...they're just words after all.

No, it's not. You're horribly mistaken. What it is is this.....

"ONLY our politically correct way of thinking is correct. You are not allowed other opinions. The Constitution be damned. You WILL submit to Politically Correct Dogma. You are not allowed to have free will, or free thought, or free expression. You must be a bleeding heart, leftist liberal. Nothing else will suffice."

Because I don't want anyone telling me what I can think or say. I reserve the right to be offended and to offend.
