I believe you are thinking of the dove.
The dear in Native Mythology represents love. That would be the closest to peace in the animal kingdom, in my humble opinion.

In some Native American cultures, the Loon & Frog represent Peace & Patience. In some other cultures the Donkey represents Peace and Humility.....along with Stupidity & Stubborness & Lewdness. Go figure.

China has chosen a Swan as peace sign to Pres. Nixon which I tend to agree because of the serenity they present on water. The Dove did not appeal to me much because if you will observe how they fight each other for food in parks and unsettled they are everywhere.
