Don't listen to those other stupid heads. Before you take it to the store again, just take off the back covering, the battery, and the sim card if there is one. Let them sit for a few days, maybe one or two. Oh yeah and don't let the gold contacts on the battery or sim card touch any metal surface or it will not work. Then check it and make sure it is dry. If it is dry then put it back together and see if all the buttons and other stuff work. If not, then wait another day and then check and do what I just said. If it doesn't work THEN you can take it to the store and get a new one. All of the other answerers forgot about wasting phones and if it still worked if you would have dried it and you just took it to the store then you just wasted a good phone. Try it.
Good luck buddy.

Remove the battery. Electricity and water are a bad combination. Your phone has a better chance of being saved the faster you can get the battery out. Step3 Remove your SIM card. This holds a lot of important information. If you do have to replace the phone, it's best if you still have your data. Step4 Dry the phone as much as possible using paper towels. Step5 Allow the phone to fully dry. This can take up to 3 days. Some people like to help it along by placing the phone in a bowl of uncooked rice or putting the phone in the oven (You don't have to turn the oven on, it will still help to dry it). Others try keeping it in the car or on the TV, anyplace that's warm. Step6 Put the battery back in and test it. Check to see if the display screen looks foggy. If it does, it's not dry yet. Test later. Step7 Hopefully your cell phone works and you're all set!

I went swimming with my cell phone by accident... I let it dry for about a week then I charged it... It works fine now... I tried taking it to my cellular provider but I didn't have insurance on the phone so I just let it dry... If you have insurance take it to them and be honest... they put moisture strips inside the phone and can tell that it got wet...

You're lucky it was not salt water.......... Soooooooooo just do NOT touch it......leave it out to dry..........take out the battery.........open it up.......and let evaporation take over. 50% chance it will fix in about 2 -3 days.
