Handicaps help even out the playing field so everyone has a fair chance at taking points... The lower your avg. the higher your handicapped... For example, my league starting in the fall is based on 80% of 230, so that means you take the difference of 230 and your avg. I just figured mine out, I have a 150 avg. so thats an 80 pt. difference... NOw your going to take 80% of 80 and I'm gonna have a 64 handicap... Someone else with a 190 avg. (40 pins diff. of the 230) will only have a 32 handicap...

In a league situation all scores w/ handicap are added together for the team score to determine which team wins each game. Even w/ handicaps though, the higher avg. bowler still has the advantage. Handicap can only even it out so much

you are sure to hit something and get a better score, and it might make little kids have some fun rather than fell bad getting a gutter ball every time. and for the averages they can just try not to hit the handicaps and keep a mental score and subtract all the point you get by the help of the handicaps.
