Hmmmmmmm, ... do they? Guess I just have never noticed ... I did however when I was a kid in school date a beautiful little redhead that played the fiddle in the school band and if she deserved any label it most definitely would have been as "a stone cold fox" .. why would anyone label her a geeks .... just because she had genius IQ and a passion to experience the fullness of life.
Chill lady and not take things so serious if someone called you a "chair" would it bother you? NO, most likely not. So why worry about what some sad pitiful little people with no lives say? Their words only have power if you let them.
One persons geek is someone elses flowering beauty.

I think that whole band geeks thing might be a myth. At least at my school. No one in band or orchestra is considered a geek, unless they are for someother reason. A lot of very popular people play instruments or sing in choir.
I think it has to do with the way people in band are displayed on TV (have you ever met someone like that in real life) and the idea of some one listening to big band music seems nerdy. And the way spit collects in the instruments, that's definetly taken advantage of in the media.

Because band kids are smart and capable, (and pretty athletic too with all that marching!) so people who have no life need to find some way to put them down.
And like real geeks, band kids have in depth knowledge that other people don't understand.

A lot of students who are lazy can't understand that band kids have to practice 30-60 minutes a day, practice marching weeks before a parade, and give recitals after school. Of course the kids that make fun spend next to zero hours doing homework.

B/c u have to be some kind of smart to read music and play an instrument and they wear dorky costumes w/ funny looking hats. And plus American Pie made "band geeks" popular.

well at are school all the kids who are in band are considered so kool cuz you can do tons of things and it's fun when they call them band geeks it's cuz they are jelous they can't play well
