Because the police messed up everything. If they had done their jobs right, the killer would be lock up now. Instead, he/she has probably gone on to kill some more. Look at recent events, you and I could have done a better job than the police to figure out this new guy didn't do it.

I think people are very naive about how dumb some cops can be, especially when most only have a G.E.D. or H.S. diploma. You guys all watch the crime shows and think every case is resolved. Just like in Shawshank Redemption or The Fugitive, the wrong person goes to jail b/c people w/o critical thinking ability add 1+1 together and get 11. "Oh, there was no forced entry, she was a beauty queen and her mom was jealous..." and on and on. How many of you have kids, does that make sense? Yes, there are some moms who kill, but the majority love their children so much they would die for them. Also, there are hundreds of little girls in pageants right now. Do their moms somehow resent them, too? Come on people, use your brains!

The big thing was that Pasty and John avodied the police and detectives as long as they could- and then when the press started talking about them- years later- then they agreed to do an interview. For starters, if that happened to my child I would not be walking outside to check the mail- as John did- I would have been waiting by the phone waiting for the "kidnappers" to call- which he didn't. Well, if I had a husband and a child I would want to be with my husband 24/7 and cops trying to crack the case but they werent. Patsy and John were in seperate rooms while one detective was at the scene. My point: if you know you're not guilty, why not cooperate? It took YEARS for the Ramsey's to do so.... and it wouldn't even blow my mind if somehow or another she coerced John Mark Karr into being her scapegoat just a few months before she died- trying to prove that it wasn't her in the next few months of her short life. There is no doubt in my mind that Patsy and John Ramsey are guilty... and I totally support John Mark Karr- who didn't kill her... her parents did.

because investigators found no forced entry into the home. The ransom note also was quite lengthy and the paper it was written on came from the house, which is uncommon for a ransom note, since it would have probably been premeditated. boulder police pretty much blotched this one by leaking too much info to the public, which is why John Karr could slip into his sick world of imagining himself to have been there. He had all the pieces he needed to act as if he was the killer. Too much attention has been given to this case, think of all the other families who have had the same thing happen since this event took place. It is a shame for them that this one event is a such a media circus.

Because, unlike in a typical investigation, the family was allowed to walk around the house, and they could have planted/ tampered with evidence. This investigation was handled VERY poorly, and there were MANY mistakes, the family's ability to corrupt evidence; the family interviewed together, instead of seperately; they did not act in a way typical of bereaved parents; and the list goes on.

There were many theories. Some felt her parents knew who the killer was and kept it quiet. Some felt one of her parents may have put someone else's DNA on her. Personally, I do not believe her parents were involved. Even the recent events show that the local police department really screwed this case up big time, and that is sad. I am not certain they will ever find the right person who killed this beautiful little child.

The parents would only describe the writing on the ransom note
instead of showing the whole note, they went to the reporters to
tell their story instead of the cops, and they were reluctant about
doing a polygraph test. Also as someone had mentioned, they
lacked emotion.

Because they were in the house when it apparently happened?

I think Patsy went out and found some dude off the street and planted DNA on her daughter after she beat her to death.

Also because the writing on the ransom note matched her mother's writing.
