You have misunderstood something that a teacher said, probably. "Logarithm" is one word, and is generally unrelated to "rhythm." Given a starting number and a second number known as the base, the logarithm is the exponent necessary to raise the base to in order to get the starting number.

The _natural logarithm_ uses base e, approximately equal to 2.718281828.
