I have heard a lot of bad thing about SOME (not all) modelling agencies and how they make you pay for photos and photo sessions before they take you on then never give you any work. Always check with the local Better Business Bureau in teh US or Trading Standards in the Uk or Similar organisation elsewhere.

I think a better starting place before you go to agencies is if you have a friend who is reasonable with a camera (do not have to be a professional or even that good just okay) Just take 100 photos of yourself in different poses, clothing and backgrounds then pick out 10-20 nice photos. You can then use this as a portfolio, and even better instead of printing them which cost you money every time, host them on a website and get some business cards print with the website address on and just hand these out instead. This is a far cheaper way of doing it and with no RISK. You should never have to pay to get a job if you do there is a high chance it is a scam.

However if you would like a personal portfolio site please contact me and I will set you on up for free. I can design you a fully personalised flash website with as much or little information and then host it for you. This site can contain a gallery of your photos, personal information, list of work, contact details, etc or if you prefer just a couple of photos and nothing else. It can be password protected and all images will be protected as is humanly possible, or the photos can be available to download.

Examples of work can be provided on request. Just message me here if you want, I am a professional website designer but have lots of free time (and enough money) so I am currently doing free sites for small bands, small artist etc, basically anyone who could not afford them otherwise. I have my own hosting server so can offer hosting servers or you can host the site yourselves. This site will not contain adverts, unless you host it and put the adverts there yourself. No images sent to me will be used for anything other than your site and I will not give anyone your detail or link to the site. You will have complete control and the site can be removed or changed at any time. This is not a scam and I will design a site for FREE, I do not need the money, and enjoy working. If you do want it message me you can tell me what you want and how you want it done and I will help.

Depending how old you are I may require parents permission before i will do any work.

Modelling has absolutely nothing to do with acting - you'd need to have different agents. Sure, a few actors do a bit of modelling on the side just to earn a little extra money, but jobs are hard to find, and unless you're very tall, very skinny and not easily bored, it's not a good idea. Actors also keep modelling work very secret, as acting professionals almost all think models are a joke, as so many of them are thick as planks. You'd have to have a great professionally-made portfolio, and that costs more than the average model makes in two years. Acting, however, is very demanding. If you haven't already got an agent through your stage school, at 14 you've left it very late. Professional adult actors who look very young get almost all the 'teenage' roles, as they're better trained and more experienced. Your best chance would be to aim for a place at a top drama school after your A Levels, as without that, you'll not get any work at all after you're 18 anyway. Acting agents will only accept adults who have graduated from drama school. If you'd had enough good training at an accredited acting school you'd already know all this stuff, so I suggest that you get a lot more training, get as much stage experience as you can in community theatre, learn to sing and dance as well as possible, and after your A Levels you might stand a chance of getting into drama school. Good luck!

Hi, Im a model for MTG Model and Talent.

First thing I did was, went to a dermatoligist about my acne.
Second, I had my moles removed and freckles, because they like clean faces. One mole is ok if its not too large.
Third, I changed my diet to a healthy one.
Fourth, I worked out till I had great abs to show off.
Fifth, I sent in some modeling photos to them.
Sixth went to a interview.
Sevent was hired.
Eigth I started making around 500 dollars per day.

You also should make a comp card, doesn't have to be fancy.
and a portfolio is not needed for a first impression unless you are transfering from an agency to another, or you are a professional model.

most agencies hold open calls - an open call is when the agency allows people to come off the street and show their photos and meet with an agent to determine whether htey have what it takes to be a model. you should start by calling around to local agencies to see when their open calls are held. Otherwise, you can mail in simple photos of yourself - your friend or parent can take the photos. The more natural the better, no heavy make up, simple clothing - jean skirt and a white tank top.

I would suggest looking at agency websites (www.fordmodels.com) at look at their teen division to see what types of teens they represent.

good luck!

WELL EVERY MODEL NEEDS A PORFOLIO. YOU CAN EITHER GET A FRIEND TO TAKE SOME PICTURES OF YOU OR GET IT PROFESSIONALLY DONE. THEN SEARCH FOR SOME AGENCIES IN YOUR AREA. SEND YOUR PICS TO SOME AGENCIES. YOU CAN GO TO YAHOO SEARCH TO FIND AGENCIES NEAR YOU. SOMETIMES SCOUTS WILL COME TO YOUR AREA TO FIND TALENT. YOU CAN GO TO THEIR OPEN CASTING CALL.
