I went December 2004. It is really, really cold so even though you get the excellent thermal suits provided, take at least 3 pairs of good quality thermal socks each,2 thermal hats and a wooly scarf. There were children crying as their feet and hands were so cold so best be prepared. The trip was magical, it was tear jerking to see the kids being called out by their names from Santa. (Take your letters written by the kids to hand in)
Also if you are taking a camera make sure you insulate it well, i kept mine in bubble wrap, i actually took 2 cameras which was a good job as no sooner have you got the picture taken the lens starts to freeze! so i kept alternating them.
Ps i only went out and back the same day from Manchester to Kittilia.
Hope you have lovely memories of this exciting trip to treasure as i have.

They dont provide gloves, so take 2 warm pairs. In case one gets wet from throwing the snow balls.
Scarves are good idea because the snow balls tend to drip down your waterproof suit.
Disposal camera, as normal cameras can be ruined by the cold climate.
