Everyone tells me not to get the tattoos I want because of the life I have ahead of me. They say that tattoos that can be seen are disrespectful of myself, and unlady like.

Tattoos may seem nice but remember ... they will last for life ... you may try to get it removed someday I've seen some really gross looking attempts to get rid of tattoos . They will be with you for life ... And what if you decide to have kids and gain weight the tattoo will stretch and look bad . Not to mention the health risk like aids, hep... do you really want needles putting ink in you ??? Why not try a spray on ?

People of all types get tattoos now. You might want to start with something smaller in a place that is not to in your face, maybe an ankle or shoulder. Than they can be covered up easily if the occasion calls for it. The only reason that I don't have one is my great fear of needle. Good luck to you and feel free to express yourself.

You should listen to the voice of experience. What do you think when you see a girl with a tattoo splashed across her back, chest or arms. Do you think it looks lady like? How would you feel if your grandmother had tattoo's like those on her body?

I've seen brides in beautiful wedding gowns with tattoo's on their arms, chests and backs and it looks anything but lady like, in fact it looks downright hideous!!

If you want to be taken seriously in life don't bother getting a tattoo. Having a tattoo may prevent you from getting that job you may well deserve in the future. Be yourself and use discretion when it comes to your body.

Personally, I wouldn't get a tattoo (I'm not a fan of needles, and I don't like the idea of having something on me that's permanent unless you pay thousands of dollars for surgery).

THAT BEING SAID... many people get tattoos, and if you're old enough and as long as you recognize some jobs require that their employees can't have any visable tattoos, I say go for it. It's your life, and if you like it that's all that matters. Who cares if some people think it's unladylike. It only matters what YOU think.

It all depends on the woman. I tell people that if a woman is already trashy-looking, a visible tattoo will make her look trashier. If the woman is classy and professional-looking, a visible tattoo is usually viewed as a hint of a tittilating naughty side, an interesting past, or as art.

It's your body, just remember; that tattoos are permanent. Some work environments won't let you show a tattoo so take that in mind when or if you get one. Also, don't forget what gravity does to your body. That should be an important thought when figuring out where to put it.

I don't believe tattoos are a show of disrespect to yourself, but you may want to watch WHERE you get them. Today it is totally legal for an employer to refuse to hire you because of visible tattoos.
My daughter has several, four I think, and I think only one of them is cute, but because it's visible, she's been turned down on job applications. They can also refuse to hire you because of body piercings and it's legal for them to do so.
So, before you do anything, think carefully and in great detail.

I don't think that's true at all. If you want to get tatoos, get tatoos, who gives a toss what everyone else thinks?! I'm in my 20s, and know plenty of people of a similar age with tatoos, some very visible, and it's never stopped them from getting jobs or anything like that.

More and more people are getting them. As long as you go to a tattoo parlor where it is very clean and you have no chance of them using an infected needle on you, go ahead.
