EMERGENCY!!a tree top fell on our house..a tree remover service came to the house?

and they are tryin to charge us 1500 i think that's way to much does anyone know the price that should be charged i live in NEW JERSEY...they'll cut the tree remove branches and chances of destroying our deck are at risk but 1500 is just to much and i feel they are trying to take advantage of us..help

2. Call your insurance company and ask them to cover the cost.

Hi there depending on the Tree situation: How big, how Tall, how is it laying etc. that maybe why the price is so high. IF you have ins, you need them to know the situation and approve it, otherwise Yes you will be taken advatage of.
If the tree service is cutting the tree in Chunks, Make sure the chunks will not fall on whatever it's above, if they will Fall you will have even more damage.
Is a Crane involved. Most of the big trees that fall here in the northwest, We come in w/ a Crane. Just for a crane thats about an extra $600 - 800.00 charge. If the job is quick.
Are they going to clean up all the mess?
Are they using a Chipper?
These are other factors.
What kind of tree is it? It could be worth some money, if saved and taken to the Lumber yard.

I live in NJ also and paid more than that several years ago to have a tree cut down and removed, and, that was not in an emergency situation. Did you call your homeowners insurance to see if they cover that, they should. Maybe they can send someone over. Also, was the tree on your property or someone else's? If it was on a neighbors property, and it fell on your house, their insurance should pay for it. If it was on public property owned by the town, you are out of luck. Hope this helped you!

Go to treebuzz.com and ask for anyone in your area that could come look at it.If its a large tree and is a danger it just might cost you that much.Alot of people think tree work is easy and not dangerious,well it`s both .

That's a big job and they have to be careful to avoid damage to your house so I guess that factors in to what they charge. Or you could try shopping around if your not happy.
