For me it was very logical. One night I basically wrote down a wish list of my needs and "would likes" in my ideal woman. But I was serious about it. It took about a week of soul searching and pondering...plus you throw in the experiences you have had in dating nightmares and voila you have a list...or better yet a benchmark to use when measuring. The other thing I should mention is to catagorize the traits as "Flexible" or "Inflexible." For instance I knew I could never marry a smoker...so I was inflexible on it. Anyway, now that you know what you are looking for...start dating. See how each date measures on your list...add new things to your list, etc. Anyway, my "wife to be" found me, and we dated for about 2 months when I realized that she was the one...we were that compatible...and we have been together for 7 years now. : )
