i recently caught my daughter playing with my sisters panties, she was smelling them, and told me she was just doing a school project, but this was the second time she has done this, is she turning into a lesbian? or is this some kind of weird fetish she has?

You don't say how old your daughter is (3? 13?30?). Depending on her age, there could be a lot of reasons, believe it or not, why she did this. Most of them have more to do with curiosity.

Human beings are very curious about other human beings, and that includes smell. Smell is a very powerful sense (we all have, for example, scents that make us think of certain things - like vanilla makes me think about baking cookies with my mom. Gardenias remind me of my first prom).

If your daughter is near, or at, puberty, she's very interested in boys, girls, bodies, and all of that. You may have caught her trying to satisfy her curiosity about how other girls and women smell, you know, "down there" - a common thing to wonder about at that stage.

If you seemed scared by what she was doing, or judgemental, she may not have felt free to tell you what she was really doing (school project? School hasn't changed that much over the years).

Think back to when you were her age. Did you wonder about the changes in people's bodies? Maybe you didn't sniff underwear, but you probably had questions. Let her know you will listen, uncritically, and she can ask you anything, then ask her again about the panty sniffing. She may have questions she needs answered.

Lesbian is not some stereo type that sniffs panties. Chances are that she is curious about smell. Children need the time sometimes to explore sexuality. She may feel her smell is not what it's supposed to be or it may be a fetish. The important thing here is not to make her feel bad about any of her choices--which in turn gives her the choice to be who she wants to be--and not who you don't want her to be out of spite. About your sisters panties--maybe they shouldn't be so accessible to her.

I don't think so. Many young girls are curious. Maybe she wants to know that she is normal. When girls develop they sometimes have body functions they can't explain, maybe she's just curious to see if an adult woman is the same as she is.

I wouldn't make a big deal out of it. And I'm not lesbian, but it's a pretty safe bet that it's not a "sign".

How old is she? She might just be curious. Don't make a big deal of it. That might make her freak out, not just about this but about other stuff and you want her to be able to trust you (freaking out isn't a good trust builder). She'll probably get over it once her curiosity is satisfied.

Oh, and I don't think this has anything to do with being a lesbian.

Talk to her, as scary as that is, it'll get you the honest answer you're looking for..I mean I don't think she's a lesbian, I think it might be some fetish or maybe curiosity depending on her age.

Something tells me your a young kid trying to be funny. What girl is going to sniff another girls panties lesbian or not. If she was doing this sort of thing most likely she would not get caught 2 times. Girls are more sneakier then boys are. I think your just bored.

I think it maybe a fetish. But its best just to confornt her about her sexuality it may just be a phase...if not maybe you should see a professional for help.
Talk to her first and then decide your course of action from there.
