I am running a wireless g router by linksys. I first tried a high gain antenna on my wireless card and got some improvement but not a lot, next I installed high gain antennas on the router and saw a minor improvement. With the addition of a range expander I can now get a consistent 54mbps at up to 300' from the router. I live far from other houses so I didn't bother with security settings.

I take it you mean to boost your wireless signal then you can buy signal boosters that you can locate to improve the signal in poor areas
the web site below explains some of them

Get a booster.
Assuming you have a wireless connection, a booster or range extender should do it for you.
Personally, I go for wired connections and never run into that problem and I don't have to be concerned about people parking next to my place and using my network... ;-)

get yourself one of the newer higher gain, multiple aerial routers. They improve the range over threefold in some circumstances.
