Usually I can't read any book more than once every 5 years but if I had to stick with one book I would probably go with Maps in a Mirror, the collected short fiction of Orson Scott Card. Its big, so there is alot to read and his stories have an emotional effect on me so I could probably read one a day and reflect on them to pass alot of time.

The Harry Potter series, especially Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. I've read that book so many times that it's starting to fall apart!

I'd go with the "Complete Collection of Sherlock Holmes". A very thick book with lots of short stories to read and a couple of longer ones too. Since I would surely have plenty of time to kill while stranded, this would certainly keep me entertained.

I certainly won't say the Bible, for it is a collection of naive, boring, etc. sermonizing. I never did like it. It's difficult to limit myself to only one book. Even the best book would become tiresome if it was all I had to read. I suppose my collection of Shakespeare's entire writings would be one book that I could read for years.

Of course I would pick the Bible, but since I can't... I guess I would take a book of Edgar Allen Poe's best short stories.
