Should I just leave it in the car and carry him myself to the car when we go out?

Oh, it's difficult because it's heavy.

Oh wow. This hapenned to me last night. lol. I had his stroller the diaper bag the seat and him all at once trying to get to the car in one trip. I have a 20 lb. 4 month old. I found out it's easier to carry him and the carseat at the same time but not with him in it. Then leave the carseat and stroller in the car, especially if you know you have to leave again soon. And only take the seat out if your going to change vehicles or if he's too young to sit up on his own in the shopping cart.

Yes the seat and baby weight is very heavy and get even heavier as the baby gets older, leave the car seat in the car and carry the baby.

Yes, I usually left the car seat in the car and carried just the child into the house.

I recommend getting a baby sling. You will have the baby right there with you and there's no heavy seat to carry around. Check out the links for some good ones.

They are difficult to carry especially if you have a bigger baby like I did!! I left them in the seat till they could somewhat hold their head up then for me it was easier just to take them out! But when they asre so little it was easier leaving them in there and I had to use bith hand to crip those dang car seats and we at that time lived on the 3rd floor!

Leave it in the car. Carseats are for cars, not for carrying all over the place! Use a sling if you need to have your hands free. I also hate carrying the carseat, but occasionally if my baby is asleep I'll take it in so I can care for my toddler for a few minutes until the baby wakes.

We leave our car seat in the car, just carry your baby to it, it'll save on a lot of frustration for you, and stop you dreading journeys if you know that you have to start and finish with this rigorous weightlifting session.
Or, you could buy a lighter car seat.

I agree! the ones that my kids had were heavy with them in it! If you don't need it in wherever you are going, leave it in the car! Especially if you are visiting, everyone will want to hold him anyway! And if you are going into a store, get a cart in the parking lot, most of those seats snap into the carts, so he can rest comfortably!

I found it much easier to leave him in his car seat when he was an infant. esp. if we were going to the mall-I could just snap the seat righ onto the stroller-we have a graco system stroller. It does get heavy to carry around but it's more conveinent esp. when they're little. Just think-you'll get really toned arms:)

put him in a stroller or get one that the car seat sits on.They r expensive but hassle free.Do not carry him every where,i did w/my now 5 yr old cause it seemed easier when he was so little, but he never would sit in a stroller after i did that so many times and that is more of a hassle than anything. We have always put my 14 mth in a stroller and never had that problem
