Why would I even consider joining a religion that glorifies the killing of innocent women and children and then rewards the murderers with 72 virgins? Why would I want to belong to a religion that makes the women go around looking like walking traffic cones with a veil over them? Why would I want to belong to a religion that preaches the stoning of women for minor offenses?
Besides that.... why don't you take this muslim crap and put it on the Religion and spiritualism string, rather than smell up the Arts and Humanities section... where it is an OFF TOPIC POSTING and not really appreciate by the intelligent people who like this string.

Well, there are many reasons, for those who are not muslims. The first, is that of its current bad publicity. Given the fact that, rightly or wrognly, newspapers and magazines regularly give the impression that muslims either are terrorists or sympathise with them, it is unlikely to attract people of a more moderate state of mind.
The second reason is that Islam is a ritualistic religion. The very fact of the five pillars suggests that salvation can be "earned." For those who are used to say "traditional" Christianity or say Mormonism, the question would then be, what does Islam have that I don't have already? For others, the idea of having to do good works to earn salvation may be repugnent if they either do not agree with the works themselves or would prefer that kindness be a purely selfless gesture.
The third reason is that orthodox Islam often appears closeted from the real concerns of society. Rather than engaging with current debate, it could appear that it is either running down rabbit holes of debates that aren't deemed important, or coming up with unacceptable answers for those that are. An example of this would be the issue of women's clothing. Given the predominance of feminist ideology, any restriction on what women wear is likely to be met with disdain.
One of my best friends is a muslim convert to Christianity and we have had amny comparative discussions of the two religions.

I know YOU think that islam is the best religion but I could say that the Buddist religion is best or Church of England religion is best...after all its good enough for the queen why not you.
Jesus was a Jew...why aren't you???????
I believe if you live a good life, help others where you can, be considerate to other peoples feelings & be honest & trustworthy & harm no-one.....it doesn't matter what religion you are as long as you are true to yourself.
There is too much bitterness, arguments & fightng between religions. Just be true to yourself

Thank you have a nice day :)

Why not be Muslim. Because societies dominated by Islam suck. They are totalitarian fascist states dominated by a religious secret police. Plus I don't like walking around having B O

There is no best religion, as well, as there is no worst one. All the religions make people love other people, live a good life and try to change the world at least a bit. Of course, there are some movements which call themselves religion, but, in fact, they don't have anything in common with God, love and spirituality. But Islam is surely not one of them.

Well, I disagree with you. I think the best religion is none at all. If I was forced to have one, I suppose your paradise with 72 houris is better than the bleak and grim Christian heaven. One need not have any religion here. The First Amendment guarantees that.

When will people ever learn. The wives of Abraham's seed are prophetic casts of types of "Bride" that God wants--in essence, His spiritual house. Israel called as a virgin-transgressed into spiritual harlotry and God spoke through Jeremiah that he longs for her return. When she returns, God says that He will forgive her. In the meantime, until that day, when the "Gentiles will bring the Jews to jealousy" there would be many wives, princesses and concubines and one maid--Hagar. The strange thing is that children of concubines think of themselves as the most important--those of the maid....It matters not what man thinks--RELIGION is a spirit that convinces people that they can invent ways that please God. God says that ALL have sinned and fallen short. For a comprehensive look at prophecies of religions out of Abraham's seed--www.trafford.com/04-2126 and www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/1412043190.

It's all about personal preference and what YOU personally believe in.
There are good and bad things about everything, every religion. It's all about opinion though.
So if you want to be Muslim, if that is what you believe in, then be Muslim.
You shouldn't listen to anyone is being so prejudice about it. If Muslim is who you are, then be it.
