Well, it should be treated that way for the most part, but there is more to it than that. Race is also a SLIGHT difference in genetics. There are some minor skeletal differences between the races, and of course the epicanthic fold of the asian race is a genetic difference from both Blacks and Whites.
There are also cultural differences. Each "race", just as other microcosms or small groups have different cultures. There are differences in the way we live. This does however go beyond race. The foods I eat when visiting my Scottish family members is very different from the food I eat when at home. There are differences in music, art, literature and family rituals that are shaped by our cultural heritage. The problem is that people can't respect these differences and accept them. In choosing friends and associates race should never make a difference. Yes the person may have some differences in how their family celebrates certain holidays or the foods they eat. There may be differences in slang or language used in the home. These differences should be enjoyed though, rather than arbitrarily rejected out of fear or a sense of cultural superiority.
Without an acceptance of other cultures you would never eat chinese food, mexican food or other "ethnic" food you enjoy (including Pizza and spaghetti). There would be FAR fewer words in our language as many are adapted from the words brought to the US by immegrants of many cultures. We'd all still be listening to Bach and Beethovan as there wouldn't be anything new.
Variety is not a BAD thing. It's part of the joy in life. Would you want a closet full of identical jeans and identical white Tshits that you wore day after day after day after day? Would you want to eat the same food every day?
Yes, racism is foolish and frankly, ignorant. But ignoring the beautiful things various cultures have to offer is just as narrow minded. What we need to remember is that we are all of the HUMAN race. Then celebrate the differences within that race so that we can have the beauty and variety the world truly offers. The more you learn about other cultures, the more you admire.

Race is more then just a color it is also a culture. And there are very distinctive differences between cultures.
Where as I do not believe that any race is better then the other.
You have to admit that each race has it's different cultures, beliefs, styles, way of talking, food, and other differences.
And there will always be people who disagree with the others culture and beliefs therefor we have racism.

Race came about way way way back when ... here is the definition of the word race. So, yes, race 'aint' nothing but a color' - however people have stereotyped people by their race based on past actions which kinda sux.
Race is commonly thought of as being three divisions of mankind; the Caucasian, the Mongoloid and the ******* races. Webster's New World Dictionary has this definition:
RACE: Any of the major biological divisions of mankind, distinguished by color and texture of hair, color of skin and eyes, stature, bodily proportions, etc: many ethnologists now consider that there are only three primary divisions, the Caucasian (loosely ‘white race ), ******* (loosely ‘black race ) and Mongoloid (loosely, ‘yellow race ), with various subdivisions: the term has acquired so many unscientific connotations that in this sense it is often replaced in scientific usage by ‘ethic stock or ‘group .”
I agree with the 1st poster - there will always be racism - so long as there are more than one color of people, they will always think they are better ... goes with mankind (that's a funny oxymoron, isn't it - mankind?)
Race is color - heritage and ethnicity cover everything else.

Much too simplistic. There are differences, however inconsequential, in physical characteristics that go beyond skin color. There are cultural differences, even in a "melting-pot" society.
My answer is also much too simplistic, but it is just as biased to ignore the differences among the races as it is to use them as a basis for assigning a social hierarchy with race as the determinant factor.

Race is more than the color of a persons skin but still people shouldnt discrimanated people just becaouse of where thier from the color of thier skin the way they talk and thier costoms, its very shallow to hate people just because they arent like you, Im not raceist.
Most People are raceist because they are scared of somthing they dont know about or that they hear that members of a certen race do things they dont approve of.

So it grew to become into as quickly as consistently suitable right here!! in spite of the shown fact that why are risky christians continuously claiming the extensive bang have been given right here from not something? Are they that ignorant? Did they sleep by way of college or is it that they understand the certainty in spite of the shown fact that evaluate they could twist it using shown fact that each and every person is gullible?!! Are you conscious which you're out of music with the church homes?!! The Pope, Catholic Church, Church of britain and mainstream church homes all take transport of evolution and the extensive bang!! Lord Carey the former Archbishop of Canterbury placed it instead nicely – “Creationism is the fruit of a fundamentalist mindset to scripture, ignoring scholarship and appropriate finding out, and complicated unique understandings of certainty”!! seems your intelligence is puzzled via using the two aspects!!

Racism will always exist. That's all I have to say. It doesn't matter what you believe. For every person that doesn't believe in race, there's another 100 that will discriminate you.

Race is not just color. There are learned behaviors within every different race. There are even great differences within racial groups. We tend to group everything and everyone into some classification. Right or wrong that is how it is done.
