Yes I think platonic love exists. And I think its nature change over time in the same way that all relationships change. In any relationship, love deepens or maybe the two drift apart, or maybe there is a shift in how the two relate to each other.... or whatever.

Platonic. Love. Two completely different animals I'm afraid. Have you read Plato? do so and you'll see why the platonic relationship is named after him, a loving relationship and platonic relationships are very different concepts. Platonic feelings do exist, but love is love.

Anything you can conceive of exists...if only in your mind. But in this instance yes platonic love does exists. I have many friends and family members that I love but have no interest in romantically.

As for your second question the answer is also an affirmative. Everything changes. As one Greek Philosopher put it, "You can never step in the same river twice."

As for the details as to how this can and does change I'm going to have to pass on this potential treatise. You will have to be sated with my conclusions.

Platonic love exist these days only between girls and boys 10 years old!! You will not find somebody that will want only whispers, without touching, without a phisical relation...More often you will see these days that first comes sex and then any kind of love, or love will not come at all..It's sad, but true...You will not find a guy that will like to stay with his girlfriend and read poems to her when they are alone..

Well, speaking for myself I believe it does exist. I have a fantastic relationship with a guy who I have known for 8 years and we have never had a sexual attraction to one another.

I think because he has seen me at my worst, physically and mentally, the relationship has just been de-sexualized - there is just no appealing mystique.

As for it changing over time - who knows? So far it hasn't happened but I you never know how feelings change.
