If ghosts can go through walls,why don't they fall through the floor?

Well, that depends on the belief in Ghosts. Some say a ghost is nothing more than a psychic memory. There isn't a soul there and it's empty. The ghost is just a type of "replay" of something that happened that was a strong enough in emotional shock to cause an imprint.

For others, a ghost is an entity who either doesn't realize it is dead or doesn't care and has no intention of leaving. In this case there are a few possible answers.
1) The ghost may not see the modern structure. For the ghost, there was a door here when he/she died and he/she still sees that door. Since there is no physical form, there is nothing to tell the ghost any differently.
2) With no physical form a ghost is nothing more than energy. Energy flows through all things, so travel through a wall would be simple. Since there is a consciousness there, that energy is able to direct it's own flow. It can flow accross the floor, through the air, wall, etc. as it chooses.

It all depends on what you think a ghost is. Some of the ghost legends in our history ARE fascinating though!

They have no mass and therefore they are unaffected by Gravity. They move not by physical propulsion, but mental. If they wanted to float or walk down, they would go through a floor as easily as a wall. They also tend to limit there move more like a living person though, since that is how they "think" about moving.

D. ghosts don't really move through walls. they are made of energy so they can "think" about going to another place and thats where they appear at.
E. like all of them said gravity and time doesn't exist to them. they are on what is called the "astral plane" which is a world in or world where rules like gravity and matter don't exist. only electrical matter.

They aren't affected by gravity and technically they aren't even walking, they're lvitating, drifting. so falling would not be a possible option.
