I've heard of Shoot the Rooster, not Shoot Rooster, but if they mean the same thing than it basicly means to shoot the **** so to speak ... just a lot of talk among friends ... at least thats how I was taught it growning up ... now there might be other meanings out there ...

In two other languages I am familiar with, it's what a man says if he is outdoors and intends to go off and pee somewhere. ("I think I'll go off and shoot roosters.") Sometimes they say "shoot rabbits" instead. Women, on the other hand, say, "I'd better go gather some flowers."
