The people above claiming that you don't have do not have copyright on the internet are overgeneralizing to the point of being legally incorrect.

If you are using a Yahoo generated avatar, then someone else is entitled to generate the same avatar, and you would have a hard time arguing that your creation had the necessary originality since it was just menu selection. However, if you are using a personal photograph as your avatar image, and have copyrights on that photograph, that's a different story.

If you read the Yahoo Terms of Service and their other policies, you will see the procedures inside Yahoo to deal with such actions. Yahoo will also cooperate with lawsuits filed against members, so even though it's seemingly anonymous, that doesn't protect people from tort action.

Yeah or what about those kids sueing mcdonalds cause they got fat from eating there? I just found that freakin hallarous. I mean come on. Gimme a break! I eat a big mac now and again but i'm not gonna have one for every meal. Be creative people!

Actually hunny i've had people still my name on here and well pretty much my damn profile. They're petty. Don't fret over them. Theres no need to change a thing just because they took it. Just shows how unorigional they are.
Don't let it bother ya too much. People like that are sad. They could never really be you so they settle for the next best thing so they don't gotta be themselves.
Unless they still your real identity theres nothing that you can do about it. Except if you write a song, poem, etc copyright it before you ever post it. This way if they do steal it you can sue the crap outta em! Hope that helps..

I don't believe you have any copyright rights on your name, your avatar, or even your answers on Yahoo! Answers, so there is no basis for a lawsuit. Sorry.

Sure...you can sue for just about any reason. I'm not saying you'll win, but you might get lucky. How about that lady that sued McDonald's because she spilled coffee on herself. Amazing!
