It seems that the correct usage of the English language has deteriorated greatly-- especially on the internet. I'm certainly not perfect, but it seems that many people don't even try. It's to the point that reading some of the things here is challenging.
i like too reed things from peeple but its hard when their are no punctution and tons of not spelled write wods and things do people just not care or r they not getting taught or is it somehow just a fad not that im so stuffy but its rely kind of annoying do u no what i mean??

It does make you wonder if we're raising a generation of illiterates. I'm not comfortable with my punctuation, but I am with my spelling. I believe I can spell correctly because I read a lot. Then I see questions from people in the books and authors section who cannot spell. I really don't understand it. I wonder if it's from all the text messaging on cell phones. People shorten words in order to save money on their messages. I wonder if that spills over into their non cell phone typing.

I have wondered the very same thing myself. There is even a "Check Spelling" link available that obviously is not used by a lot of posters on here! I attribute some of it to laziness.

i have to say that i am really sorry to disturb you because i am one of these people that do not pay attention to punctuation but believe me i always try to make my english better i am a 16 year old iranian girl and i am learning english in our school it is only 2 hours in a week and i try to learn english through these yahoo answers. i really check the words and phrases which you write and i check them in dictionary .ok anyway best wishes for you!by the way your language is really nice!

I agree with you. Some questions I can't understand, much less answer. More time typing would save people headaches reading. I make mistakes. It's because I type too fast and don't go back to edit.

I think that's because it's easier to write this way. yeah by the way at some point your spelling s*cks. And I have met lots of americans with a shitty typing comparing to lots of non-english speakers..
