i lost my case in sourt this people got every thing i own and i dont under stand why or how this could happen

There are different ways to claim your homestead and they vary from state to state. Ask your attorney if the lawsuit was a foreclosure or you were simply sued, a judgment rendered against you and then reduced to a foreclosure.
In any event the States that have unlimited homestead exemptions are: Florida, Iowa, Kansas, South Dakota, Texas, and the District of Columbia.

You may want to check google under Homestead, it looks like each state has its own guidelines. You may want to check you state's guidelines.
