Well he is now into the critical heart attack phase of life and if he carries on like this I would calculate 5 to 6 years. Of course if there are long lived genes in his family then maybe a bit longer.

I don't know. But barring any accidents, I think the guy can extend his life by quitting smoking and drinking completely and changing to a healthy diet. Meat isn't so bad, but if one doesn't eat grains, fruit, or vegetables, they're making a big mistake. Also, I recently read that a diet with too much protein is supposed to cause one's testosterone levels to be lower than they could be. That can cause this guy to be depressed, especially when combined with the natural decline of testosterone in men about that age. So he should go to the library and get a modern Nutrition textbook and read about how to eat a balanced diet! Exercise would help too! Good luck!

He could have years left if he is not suffering any major health problems. Some people are just lucky. However, it would be wise for him to pay more attention to his diet and attemt to at least cut down on the smoking and drinking if he cant cut them out altogether as he is putting himself at high risk of a lot of major health problems.
