It sure seems like only uneducated/unintelligent people actually think rap is good music. Rock, or most other music, takes skill; very little rap takes skill (exceptions - 2pac, P. Diddy, Chamillionaire, etc.). Rap is good for parties/clubs, and that's it.

ie:
"Do your chain hang low / do it wobble to the flow"
"West side walk it out / east side walk it out / south side walk it out / north side walk it out"
"I'm bossy..."
"Inside peanut butter / outside jelly / 7 days of the week / 7 different Chevy's"
etc. etc. etc.

i know. rapping takes about an hour to get good. agreeably, there are a few exceptions, but those are the legends. your average rapper has no skill. the amount of skill involved to play "enter sandman" as compared to "i like big butts" is incredible. i mean, you don't see kids hanging out on the street trying to master the guitar solo "eruption" you see em trying to rap "goin down" or somethin like that. cause it's easier. rock has also been around since the late 50s. rap has only been around since the late 80s. thats 30 years, and alot more artists. there has never been an "explosion" of any kind in rap, except at the beginning, and maybe for gangsta rap. and alot of educated people like rap, its just the problem with unintelligent people. and its not my fault that not as much rock gets on top 40 radio, but hey! there's modern rock radio, an entirely differant billboard! i don't see any hip-hop billboards or radio around. do you?

No not at all. I am very intelligent and I enjoy rap music. In fact I enjoy all types of music. Now don't get me wrong some rap music is crap but so is some pop, some country, some rock etc. You can't base your opinion of a genre of music on just a few songs. To to that would be unintelligent.

i could say through fact it grew to become mainstream. whilst rap first got here out it became some youthful black teenagers rapping approximately issues everybody might desire to do. eating with some friends and dangle out on a similar time as using an previous cadillac, became not for each guy or woman yet a minimum of ymost human beings might desire to bypass out and do this. Now days all they rap approximately is the hundreds of thousands of dollors they have been given, and the great costly autos. won't be able to narrate to that so i don't worry listening. supply me some previous due 80s early 90s rap any day.

i cant believe how unintelligent and uneducated your un open shallow mind is... i listen to anything with a message, and not all rap songs sound like this, its incredible how u can say only rock has good music as well. every genre has good music its the trash some say, that breaks them... i know some rock artists that have nothing to say or that are crappy because all they talk about is crap, when people start thinking about the craft instead of being famous then thats when everyone in entirety will make good music, or they show their true colors... and spare me on what u think..cause in fact no one that has a agreed with u know any good artist.. check out some people like mos def or talib kweli or common or de la soul or someone that has actually took time to perfect what they do, please do not say what u do and dont like when you dont know all the aspects of it, there is more to rap than eminem or some of those crappy white artists, just because.. u can relate to killin yo self..get real

Now i'm no fan of rap in general. certain artists i do like. generally, i don't think it takes much talent to rap. just a good sence of rythm. For me though, i found that the good music are artists with a good vocabulary. whether or not they actually wrote it with those words or someone else did, doesn't matter, but a song that can at least use real words in their rymes (if you can call them "ryming").

Eminem for example uses some pretty inteligent words. lyrical content you can debate all day, but i like him because of what he can do with his music. Dre is also another one. but when dumb songs come out where you repeat the same words or lines four times a beat, there's no talent in that.

Your wrong I think it's the other way around it's the intelligent people who like rap. There is a lot more thought that goes into rap music then you think. Unlike heavey metal you really think it takes skill to scream jump up and down on stage and play something you have to be so stoned even to understand it. O ya that takes skill

no, many people listen to rap music and im sure there is someone out there who is intelligent. in my opinion, both take a lot of hard work and effort(and if you have the patience to pursue a dream, then yes i believe thats talent). Yes, the lyrics are out of control, but many rappers give rap a bad name. Rap isnt always about sex and drugs. It can be very moving and groundbreaking. Where would we be without variety eh?
