I have to go with E.T.
Why? I'm a motormouth on the keyboard, so you'll regret asking... but here goes...
Its been more than twenty years, so if you are too young to remember seeing it's first run in the movies, thats a shame, because with that goes the experience of living in a time when the highly polished special effects were still in their age of discovery as well. Spielberg really hit paydirt combining classic movie audience weakspots like the precociousness of children and the wonder of space aliens, and most of all, the child's secrets they keep from grownups, as though they know better than they do about what's important.
I remember George Will wrote that he could feel his little daughter's resolve stiffen in the seat beside him as Henry Thomas, with a freaking space alien in his closet, says in the movie with a stern face, " I'm keeping him". " Oh no you're not!" wrote Will. That cracked me up back then.
I thought it was a cool eerie moment when the government dude came through the doorway in a space suit! That's when all of a sudden it occurred to me, yes, this critter could have germs that could kill a human in no time, and they are sharing Reese Pieces and letting his little sister get all up close on it. You won't want to keep it when your finger turns green and starts to melt off.
Anyway, I think it also was the beginning of tons of children empowered movies, where adults seem like inept clueless idiots - nice, but just not hip, so the kids have to save the world around them, as long as they also do their homework. The younger generation basically took over popular music and the face of popular TV. Can't blame E.T. for all that. Not blaming anyone really. I just think it has more of a landmark status than the others. It was very low tech. The story mixed innocence with adventure. Also, so glad there wasn't an E.T. 2 Sequels are usually money driven clones.

It took me a while to realize what movie on that list means the most to me. Now that I go back and look over it again, I realize that I've seen them all. After a second look at the list I find that the Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King is the one that I liked the most. I love Orlando Bloom and his role in that movie, I think, is better than that in Pirates. This movie completed the trilogy perfectly. The acting was amazing all around. The story itself caused me to go out and read all three of the books. The fight between good vs. evil is what a good movie should be made of. The Return of the King does just that. The distruction of the evil taking over a world where good was hiding, waiting to defeat the terrible magic taking over, was amazing. The purity of the Hobbits and how the smallest creatures could defeat the largest of foes taught lessons to people who felt small against their larger evils. Amazing acting, wonderful lessons. I love Return of the King for those reasons.

The titanic. I am not into those sci fi movies like star wars and lord of the rings. Titanic was a great movie and I cried like a baby. And I love movies that make me cry. I though lord of the rings was boring(the same reasons as the reasons stated in Clerks 2.) The only critique I have about titanic is the length of the movie. good luck on your project.

I have only seen et and spider man 1 and pirates of the carribean and the lord of the rings one.
Of those, I'd say I liked Pirates best. It was funny, and had a decent storyline. I liked Spiderman, but I saw it when it came out and don't recall loving it. Same for the others.

Definitely Spiderman 2. This is a great movie... Parker is going through a hard time really understanding who he is as a person... and he has to decide if he can live without being Spiderman. Also, the villain, Octavius, is basically a victim of his own technology... an excellent warning to mankind about what just might happen as we become more desperate for energy resources.

I would love to say "pirates of the carribean-dead mans chest" but I have not seen it yet, can't wait though. I think I'd have to say "spider man 2" partly because I grew up on the comics and cartoon, which was influenced by my little brother and "father" figure. I love it when MJ finds out Peter is spider man and she leaves her wedding to be with him because she loves him, and when Doc Oc decides to destroy that machine he made and man those mechanical arms were pretty awsome. I like the romantic/action quality of it. And well spider man was and always will be my baby brothers favorite super hero and I quess he's mine too, even though we're both adults now. It's not something you just grow out of. Hope that helps you.

Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope
Great story - a farm boy and a spice smuggler save the rebellion...just doesn't get any better than that.

Star Wars Episode 3, Revenge of the Sith, because that one movie single handedly pulled the entire saga together and it was great.

I like Titanic better.'Cause it was so real, while watching it I had the feeling that I was in that ship with those people. It's full of feelings:
Hate between the Leonardo Dicaprio and the man he stole the wife,Hope for all the people that were in that ship and that were praying that the nightmare will end soon but for many people it was just the beginning.
Sadness for people who survive and lost their relatives.
Pity for us who were in front of the screen for all those children and elders that died with no chance to do something, and also when Leonardo died.
The last one, the strongest: Love between Leonardo Dicaprio and his girl a true love which will never end.He chose to die for her,to make sure that she will be safe.It was really touching.
