I don't think to many would choke to death at all but we would have a lot of pudgy people after eating all those lemon drops and gum drops.
Besides that most people would have learned to stay indoors when it rained after the first few times unless they really had some mighty strange sweet teeth and not enough sense to keep their mouths shut.

it would definetly be a worse place. the place might our water bypass? we would definetly no longer survive. Then we would have an abundance of lemon drops and gum drops with out one to consume it, as a result bringing an infestation of roaches, ants and rats. and then evaluate the those that make lemon drops and gum drops. that they had all lose there jobs, there homes, there vehicles, each little thing.

Not to mention all of the sewers and drains getting gummed up. Could you imagine a hot summer days rain? Everything would be gooey and stickey. Yuck.

i would say about forty% of the population would choke to death the other looky loos would end up blind in one eye before they learned to blink. and i predict that the grass would all turn into the crap in the bottom of the easter baskets.

Everyone would be overweight, have constant headaches, cavities. Plus umbrellas would be made of harder material.
