Well, there are some of us who reflect upon another era a time when the world we live in wasn't as complicated as it is now.
Where in the world & a time, would you rather be, what would you do to get there if it were possible?

I thought this was sort of a rhetorical question and I was going to say "No further than tomorrow" but that's not what you asked.
I've often felt I don't belong in this century (never mind the 21st!!!) I feel mor or less far more comfortable in the middle 19th century just pre or post Civil War. I've done historical rein-actment and that's where I feel comfortable...might be a past life creeping back on me.

I believe that as complicated as our world is now, it is not as a great embarking as the past used to be. Everything seemed so dangerous back then: travel, wars (lack of personal protective equipment), sanitation, etc.. But the world views were more narrow. Nowadays the dissemination of cultural ideas are so readily available and far reaching, the exotic and fantastic impressions we get from other cultures are far less dramatically felt.
I does seem that such a limited existence would actually be an environment where values were far more stronger than they are today, and that also has to do with survival, but I like to think that the older eras were far more exciting to those who experienced it.
If I were to pick a known time, it'd have to be when nationalism and industrialization were in full swing in England or America. That seems very exciting. But if humans have been around for millions of years, then what about traveling as far back as just a million years? I think that would be more interesting, for exploring sake. I would risk abandoning the present for that type of knowledge. If given the portal, I'd step right on through...

My favorite years were back in the 1960's but I wouldn't want to go back. You see, it isn't there any more. I am responding right now to questions from strangers all over the world on my computer in my living room. How great is that? Would I have loved to live in the days when we were settling the west? You bet I would. In those sixties I mentioned I was growing up, reaching puberty and making discoveries every day so life was exciting and my youthfulness made it seem endless. Now I am much more interested in seeing what happens next.

Yesterday :)
Your Question:
How far is it to yesterday?

My reply:
Ask the Beatles who are still living--

"Yesterday" takes the form of an acoustic ballad about a lost loved one. It was the first official recording by The Beatles that relied upon a performance by a single member of the band, although the background accompaniment of a string quartet was added a few days later during the editing stage. The final recording, which out of the band's members featured only Paul McCartney, differed so greatly from other works by The Beatles that the other three members of the band vetoed the song's release as a single in the United Kingdom. Although written solely by McCartney, the song was credited to both himself and John Lennon as "Lennon/McCartney", as were all Beatles songs written by either of the pair.

Your question:
Where in the world & a time, would you rather be, what would you do to get there if it were possible?

My Reply:
I am where I choose to be in USA --the greatest country in the world.
GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!

Good question, I thought about it and I couldn't come up with an answer because every era I thought about there was something humanity was doing to screw it up, weather it was the early 20th century there was WW I which went into WW II which went into the Cold War which went into today with terrorism and WWW III. The 19th century was the same story with only short interludes between wars, here and abroad. The further back you go the more difficult things get in regards to everyday life. I'd have to say the future, if we have one, maybe one day we'll rid ourselves of terrorism and war and people who feel they can only survive by destroying someone else.

i'd love to live during the renaissance era! as far as how i'd get there.....i have no idea. there have been so many different ideas on time travel and how to accomplish it. the best way i've seen so far would probablly be in the movie timeline. however...the time machine from h g wells was pretty neat....but that went into the furture didn't it?

I believe that I exist in this time and plane for a reason. I enjoy history very much, but I would do nothing to go there and observe or live history. I say "God bless" to those who would, but I will stay right here, thank you.

I will go wherever I want when I leave the earthly bounds of my body and cross over into the spirit world. We will all have the opportunity when this life is over and the next one begins.

As long as it takes to think about yesterday today with tomorrow as another day to think about today, which is now yesterday...

I would like to be in 1977 when people mind their own damn business. When people were not killing children.
