I suggest we keep them as they are. HM works extremely hard, never having a day off, whether in Windsor or Balmoral or elsewhere Her Governments Red Box of Papers is sent to her. She is the only one who can counter sign the large cheques from the Bank of England.
She defends the faith very well and is very devout. There are so many reasons why we should keep the Royal Family and without a Sovereign anybody could become PM and we would end up rather like America.
Long Live the Queen!

Get rid of it asap. Other people might be corrupt? Have you ever read anything about the royal family? To be fair it's not about the individuals in the royal family, it's the whole concept of monarchy. An outdated, elitist institution that should be replaced by an elected head of state. The government may well bleed us dry but we ELECTED them and likewise can replace them in due course .
If democracy means anything we MUST have the right to choose our own head of state.

In Australia there is an organised "Resident for President" campaign gathering momentum. They're fed up with postage stamps "celebrating" the Q's burpday, silly flagwavers at very infrequent visits by HM and an utterly irrelevant "Governor". They want a resident, an Australian republic, they want out, and I can't blame them. We in Britain will eventually take a leaf out of that book and dump the monarchy. It's only a matter of time. Luckily for the monarchy, it won't be a bloody tumbrils ride. (Erm, but then, it might! Keep on checking your Eye).

Make them into an ordinary family, But let those that do good work continue but pay them a fair wage. Also make Charlie boy etc pay back all the money they waste such as the thousands of £'s on stationary. They shouldn't receive any taxpayers money. it should go to good needy causes like helping the NSPCC etc. If all else fails wipe them all out.

Stop the civil list.
Its a paye roll of not just qe2 and charles & co, but a very extended dutchy, recieving yearly payouts.
They say its nominal, (its not) and covers charity expenses.
Charity is charity, out of your own pocket, you dont take government money (ours) use it for charity, and take the credit!
Spend from your own pocket. If that makes your royal charitable responsibilities difficult, welcome to the real world.
Dont be graciously charitable with MY cash...try your own, if you take the credit.

Royalty has nothing to do with America anymore. That was back in the Tea Party days. Why would you even ask.

I'm an American just visiting your U.K. answers to look around. You may be lucky to have the royal family when you consider that you could have a Bush instead, like we unfortunately do.

Leave them alone. They do a good job. I'd rather have them than some idiotic elected head of state who would be much more susceptible to corruption etc.

Britain, you should be proud of your monarchy and your country. They are part of the reason I would love to move to England. Specifically in and around London.
