Worst closer in the Majors in my opinion.

He sucks. The giants almost lost because of him, but thank God for Mike Stanton to save the day. Benitez saved 18 out of 25 games. Thats a lot. The giants should have released him last year.

Wow, the first guy said better than Isringhausen???? He obviously has no clue when it comes to baseball.
Armando Benitez does suck, although he would have to be the 3rd worst closer behind Ambiorix Burgos of the KC Royals and Fausto Carmona of the Indians, who gave up 3 game-winning hits in 4 straight games.
But yeah ur right, he sucks major winkie

Not true. He was a lousy player with the Mets and blew more saves than any closer. That's the reason he is with the Giants.

I would blame the GM's that pay so much money when they sign this kind of guys and make them feel that they are better than anybody else. This guy is actually one of then, he thinks his ball always will be 100 mph, even on his bad days. He needs to learn how to trick the opposing team with his change up or slider, not the fastball all the time.

The Giants have made a lot of bad decisions and this guy was one of them. Hes had a good ERA throughout his career but he just has a tendancy to fall apart with the game on the line (he did have one great year on the marlins though).

Armando is past his prime, but he's always been a lousy closer except for a couple of decent years ('00, '01, '02) with the Mets.

I think everybody is wondering why he is a lousy player! But Alou just keeps running him out there in the 9th, like he going to get better the more you use him.

he's still better than jason isringhausen and ryan dempster. plus he's like a hundred years old and always getting hurt. he shouldn't be a closer. the giants just don't have anyone else.

he sucks because his arm is shot, he's been injury prone and its taking a toll on his effectiveness.
