Other than reproduction? You think the system we have now is efficient? I mean it gets the job done, but from an engineering standpoint, it could certainly be more efficient.
It is easy for each of us to arrive on the scene and say "This is the way it should be, it is so obvious!" but to understand why something is, you need to see how it started and has grown over the years.
The fact that women are incapacitated for sometime during pregnancy has helped this economic system to emerge - and when you consider how few jobs there were available at the time of the depression you would figure that men, supporting families, were the ones who got them. Most women in those days was supported by such a man in addition to the children. As women began to enter the work force, it was clearly for additional income, and they did not need enough to support an entire family. Women who were more savy in business could be the woman behind the man in a marriage or a trusted secretary, privy to lots of details of the business, etc.
It was not until women found themselves as single parents in great numbers that this has become a problem, in my opinion. I don't blame the mothers or the divorce rate - it is simply a relatively new piece of the puzzle for us as a society to work out the rules for and provide for. The fact that big business needs folks at lower salaries to maintain their profits, of course, helps to perpetuate it.
You must also remember that man made those machines that can replace him. He is not likely to have done so to make himself obsolete - but rather to give him more time for leisure or to keep himself out of harm's way.
Ultimately it's a lesson in Social Studies. There is an awesome book out now - a novel by Robert heinlein - which puts forth the idea that the entire economic system in America is based upon a false premise and it needs to be re considered. The number of examples he gave in an appendix was startling and it made me think - How often do we question these "policies" that have been handed down through society through the ages? Wouldn't it be interesting to take another look and our theories on economic, etc.
Good question - thanks! Here's the link to that book "For Us the Living" http://www.amazon.com/Us-Living-Comedy-Customs/dp/0743491548/sr=8-1/qid=1157231116/ref=pd_bbs_1/104-9390199-0013517?ie=UTF8&s=books
Peace!
Ah, ah, ah! Women's Lib has made it possible for women to do and be what they want. Women's Lib is not about insisting upon holding our own doors or smoking cigars or being dominant. Women's Lib is about making opportunities available to women to grow and contribute in ways driven by us as individuals, not society's use or place for us.
Thanks to women's lib you see lot of women who have had a raucous good time in their 20's working, travelling and living on their own, having babies and staying home in their 30s and then back to work force to contribute in their 40s and beyond. Thanks to women's lib, home based businesses are flourishing so that both men and women can stay home and raise their children. I think this boom in independence is the spark that inspires more and more senior citizens to start their own businesses after they retire.
I don't consider myself a feminist, but I thank my lucky stars for those who came before me. I consider myself a member of the human race, just like men - and just like men I am responsible for myself and my own life. That is what has come from Women's Lib.
Peace!

Haha! this really is a good question...
1. Inefficient? As a long disctance triathlete I agree that all the studies show women are better at breaking down fats in the long run. Now let's go further: if women are wholly more efficient, why do the fastest women cross the finish line long after the fastest men? Perhaps you should define what you mean by "efficient."
2. Yes, both sexes can pretty much do any job the other sex can. In my opinion, however, why would I want the men to do everything relating to either jobs, family, gov't,etc? Both sexes bring things to the table that the other can't.
3. The political end of the $1 to $.80....first I would verify those stats. In my sociological studies, I noticed that most pro-feminist writers may find limited information on a subject, but use it because it supports their thesis. If the article was written by a feminist, I would do personal research into the matter before believing it. Also, as a mathematician, all statistics can be interpreted individually and are generally produced based on probabilistic functions, so I would also verify the stats: how large was the sampling population vs diversity of workforce sampling, etc. But all in all, if it's still true, then it's messed up.
Ciao!

You have to look at the conditions that humans elvolved in, Men did the hunting and while this was only 20% of the food supply it was extremly labour intensive. Run 15 miles to a herd, kill an animal with a rock (pretty hard when everything can run faster than you) then haul its carcass 15 miles back to the cave and then butcher it.
Women took care of the children and did a lot of little jobs, catching game with traps, gathering fuit, grains and berries and so didnt need the strength, stamina or skeletal structure to carry heavy loads.
As for breaking down fats, women have higher body fat than men it keep the foetus insulated and is a source of energy for it if the food runs out.
And buying "something for the time being" that kind of nailed it, its a stop gap solution to a problem. Thats what men do, theres a problem and we solve it thats how we think.
And as for making more money, we dont have a year of work to have a baby and expect our job to still be open think about that one.

im against women making less than men, but don't say that "all" women are do thh same things as men. There are women that no absolutely nothing, and there an women who are amazingly smart. Men are the same way i think, not all men are good at what they do, some are complete rejects while others are brilliant. We really can't say "men" as a whole can be replaced by inanimate objects. It's being completely ignorant to the smarter men in the world.
Maybe when the world gets a president thats a women things will change, who knows.

you have a verry strong point, cause im always thinking bout sex (all men are) , maybe we're prgrammed that way so we have the drive to reproduce and keep the chain going, and the drive is ours, while women just host the babies, and allow the porcess to happen then carry and raise the child, while the man puts thm in a position to survive by keeping them warm and shelter and stuff like that, of course there is and exception to every rule, but generally women cant do SOME of the physicall things men can do but i will say women cant do half the job men do like, play sports as good as us, and heavy lifting, and reeal physical work, men were programmed to do that, not that a woman cant be a carpenter, but she'd have more trouble as a mover, than a man would... just becasue men can jump higher and are stronger, so you cant life run or jump like us, as a law of physics, unless a woman uses steroids, byeah it could be men were meant for gathering sticks and killing animals to feed the women and children to ensure the survival of the human race, while women are meant to have children, which equals all of the heavy lifting and sports playing we can do, and man

Phew - as long as we can still be in on the reproduction part...
;)
Seriously though as a previous poster mentioned, men are pretty efficient hunters as compared to women anyway. Faster, stronger, more single minded in focus, and more emotionally capable of violence. This was probably more important in earlier evolutionary times than now, where it is of questionable value. Women are efficient at reproducing and suckling young, at multitasked activity, forming stronger emotional bonds and reading subtle interpersonal communication and storing/ using fats. Again all probably from past evolutionary roles.
Just my opinion from personal observation and reading in sociology/ biology.
Good question though.

You declare women each and every person is greater clever at staying power races, yet, i don't see them beating them on equivalent words in any staying power race, ever. Iron guy, Boston Marathon, excursion de France . . . Nope, no women human beings on the winners podium. Do women human beings of equivalent value make below adult adult males. if so, right this is an surprising danger which you will make alot of money. in case you hire purely women human beings, you're able to have a exertions tension it is (via your math) 20% greater low-value than the closest chauvinst competitor. you will win each and every bid, make 20% greater beneficial than all those different CEOs who're not clever adequate to take great factor approximately an underpaid type. Wait .. . .i don't think of i've got ever heard of a CEO that may not clever adequate to take benefit or perhaps make the main of an underused asset. Hmm . . . that may not be in a position to be it. Then i assume i won't be in a position to respond to your 2d question. i don't be responsive to why, if women each and every person is equivalent in rather worth in each and every interest marketplace, no person has taken great factor approximately it.

I guess that with modern reproductive technology men are not biologically necesarry, but with modern technology a lot of things aren't necesarry that we wouldn't want to give up. Men make up half the human beings on this planet. They're husbands, fathers, they make art, build buildings, teach classes. The world would be an impoverished place without so many human minds.

All your facts are fictional. You are obviously creating them in anger and spite.
1) Men break down fats better than women. In fact, cellulite is far, FAR, more common in women than men. Scientific fact.
2) Men have better endurance than men. A woman has NEVER won the Boston Marathon. In fact, the fastest women is usually slower than the slowest man! FACT
3) Women are whiny, gossipy, complainers in the work office.
4) You're a sexist, chauvinistic, feminist that gives us smart women a bad reputation.

These thoughts popped into your head after reading a TEXTBOOK. Your thinking process supports 80 cents in the future your gender notwithstanding.
Each gender brings diversity and contributions - strengths as well as weaknesses. The same work should reflect the same return and value and be gender blind.
