I'm not sure if I saw this commercial correctly. I wasn't paying too much attention to it, but a couple of nights ago I was watching TV and an Orbit travel commercial came on. They had that "game show" where you had to find a vacant hotel when your flight is canceled. It was between an older couple and two older women together. The two older women won and then kissed each other on the lips in triumpth. I've never seen any gay people on normal commercials, probably because fundies would get enraged. Did anyone else see this one? Did I see it right? One woman had really short hair, so it could've been a really fem looking man. If it was a woman, I'm happy to see us busting out in normal media.

Oh, just_incredible, you know just as well as I do we're not in the mainstream commercial. Don't give me the "what is normal?" crap. I'm in the same boat as you.

What is a "normal" commercial?

The first gay couple I saw on a commercial was for Ikea, back in 1994. This created quite a stir and was taken off Mid-western and southern markets, but I heard the still used these ads out west. Then in 2000 Ikea brought back their gay/esbian commercials when they expanded their stores in the Mid-west. At that time there was no uproar and they were basically ignored.

Bridgestone Tires has a gay male couple in one of their print ads in mainstream markets.

But most gay/lesbian advertising is restricted to gay/lesbian publications.

I've seen it. Usually they try to keep it to LOGO (the gay channel) and BravoTV (the becoming gay channel). But there are actually a few lesbian undertoned commercials that have popped into the mainstream it's much less a threat to see two women kiss than two men. The closests commercials I've seen to male homosexuality on cable were to more to avoid appearing gay.

I haven't seen it. Sounds great though. Your right not too many commercials out there aiming at the gay community. Alot of TV shows though.

Orbitz is pretty gay friendly, and I know they've run similar commercials on LOGO, the gay CBS channel. I haven't seen them on mainstream channels.

I seen it. Don't recall if it was an actual kiss on the lips, or just a reasonable facsimile.
