i disagree that good art does.

if you are an artist and you are trying to convey a message and 20 people interpret 20 different messages then they misinterpreted your message.

however, artists may be comfortable with people deciding for themselves and in that vein i would say that is because their art is an expression of their imagination, not their beliefs.
