Ironhand is correct, although most bottles will say Dexron III/Mercon. If your Sable has over 100,000 miles, you might be well served to upgrade to a fluid like Valvoline's Max Life ATF. The Sable/Taurus platform is not well-known for it's outstanding automatic transmission. If you're having tranny problems, you should go ahead and do a transmission service by removing the transmission pan and filter, replacing them with a new filter and pan gasket, and refilling with new fluid. If it is a automatic transmission use Mecron Dextron 3
